(MENAFN) Authorities in Iran have reported extensive damage to cultural and historical landmarks following recent military strikes attributed to the United States and Israel, according to state media reports.

Iran’s cultural heritage ministry stated that roughly 140 historical sites across 20 provinces were affected in attacks carried out between February 28 and April 7. The estimated financial damage has been placed at about 7.5 trillion tomans, or roughly $49 million, based on preliminary assessments that officials say may be updated as evaluations continue.
